Here’s a question for you all, what do you think of when I say ‘Summer in Britain’? Pimms, strawberries and cream in Wimbledon? Live music at colourful festivals? Ice cream and fish & chips by the beach? Hometown BBQ’s? Nina Nesbitt’s single (or is that just me…)? If you answered some of the above then you must go to Mozzarella Joe’s!
Located on Southsea seafront, neighbouring the Hovercraft and Clarence Pier, this is the perfect restaurant to fully appreciate the seaside. With both indoor and balcony seating, covered in pastel paint, there is no-where more appropriate for ‘lunch by the sea’. The benches overlook the sea front, where you can spot sunbathers, No Man’s Fort, Isle of Wight and Britanny ferries plus the Island itself!
Mozzarella Joe’s offers a huge choice of food including a breakfast menu, delicious fire pit pizzas made directly in the kitchen, a range of 8oz burgers and of course, my personal favourite..seafood!
I haven’t tried a massive variety of food here but I would recommend anything ‘fishy’. Especially The Ocean Combo, it was a hit! A mix of battered fish, calamari and scampi served with salad and chips, all my favourites in one. Dillon and I also enjoyed the milkshakes choosing a classic ‘Oreo’ one which went down a treat! The portion sizes are generous so we couldn’t manage dessert but it was tempting to say the least.
Arguably there is no better way to finish off a seaside meal without walking down the seafront and enjoying the British summer (weather permitting). Portsmouth and Southsea beach holds a special place in my heart as there have been many times I’ve come down to the shore line to reflect, relax and release emotions. And having Mozzarella Joe’s there to provide the delicious food and service they do just makes this place ideal for summer.
